Camp Packing List


Boy Scout Weekend Packing List

This list is provided as a simple guideline to plan what you will need for a typical weekend camping trip.  We recommend packing your items in a backpack or duffle bag. Clothing and personal property should be permanently marked with your name and troop. Medications should be clearly marked with Scout’s name, medication name, dosage.

Official BSA Uniform (worn on arrival):

 

q Uniform Shirt (khaki)
q Shorts/Pants (green or tan)
q Belt
q Scout Socks
q Troop Neckerchief
q Neckerchief Slide

 

 

Clothing: Kept in a large plastic bag or Ziplock bag
q Socks (1 pair per day of camp and 1 pair extra)
q Tee Shirts (1 per day of camp)
q Underwear (1 per day of camp)
q Pair of Long Pants (2)
q Pair of Shorts (1)
q Sweatshirt
q Jacket/Coat (seasonal)
q Sleepwear
q Hiking shoes/boots- (broken in)
q Extra Pair of Shoes or sneakers
q Raingear/Poncho!!!!!!
q Wool Hat or stocking cap
q Swimsuit

 

Toiletries:

 

q Soap in a carrier (or plastic bag)
q Towels and washcloths (1)
q Toothbrush & Toothpaste
q Comb or Brush
q Deodorant
q Tissues  

Camping Gear:
q Backpack/Duffle bag
q Flashlight (w/extra batteries & bulb LED flashlights need no extra bulb)
q Canteen or Water Bottle perferably two
q Mess Kit (plate, bowl, spoon, fork)
q Cup/mug 

Bedding:

 

q Sleeping Pad or cot with foot pads (cots for long term camps only greater than 5 days)
q Sleeping bag
q Pillow or camp pillow (optional) clothing in and empty pillowcase works well

Other Items:
q Medications - Clearly labeled
q Boy Scout Handbook in a ziplock bag
q Wristwatch !!!!!!!!!!
q Notebook and pencils in a ziplock bag
q Compass (if you have one)
q Pocket knife (only 1).
q Folding Chair (optional)
q Card Games (optional)
q Musical Instrument (If you play one)
q Camera (Optional, Disposable is good waterpoof container suggested)

A note on electronic devices... we are a modern Troop, GPS, cellphones, iPods, etc are allowed BUT are not allowed to be used during Troop time and can not disturb Scouts or Scoutleader or will be taken away for the trip.  The Troop is not responsible for lost or damaged items and it is highly recomended that electronic devices be stored in water proof cases to prevent damage (Ziplock bags are NOT waterproof just resistant)
 

Please leave these things at home:
Axes, Saws, Sheath Knives, Fireworks, Weapons of any kind.
Personal tents unless approved or requested
Candy, gum or snacks.
Cans or bottles of Soda/Gatorade/Ice Tea/etc.
